Round 2 Response

Steve,
I am having a little problem with a particular sentence in your article "Round two." I noticed it negates its own validity. The sentence is as follows...

>>..."When the information those ideas are based on is wrong or deceptive or naïve or seriously biased, then the ideas become nonsense."...

>>..."When the information those ideas are based on is wrong"...

In what respect are the ideas presented at Synergy "wrong"?

Websters New World Dictionary defines "wrong" as follows...

wrong a. 1. not just 2. not true 3. out of order 4. not suitable

Let's look at this...
Considering none of the ideas that you are disputing have been tried, how can you say they are 'not true' or 'not suitable'? Surely solving a dispute through open and HONEST communication instead of killing is 'just.' Our laws here in the United States are based on the framework of Christians ethics. The "Thou shall not kill" commandment is the basis for our murder laws.
Even someone who kills unintentionally is subject to punishment. so, by our very example, we are opposed to all forms of induced death.

>>..."deceptive"...

In what respect is the information deceptive?
How does it deceive the reader who seeks alternatives to the indiscriminate killing afflicted on an already starving and war torn people?

The Websters Dictionary defines "deceive" as follows...

deceive v. fool; trick.

Are you implying that the people submitting here at Synergy are attempting to fool and trick in attempt to get people to stop and think for a moment before they act? That implies an element of untruthfulness. This is actually the very opposite of what I believe HAS been expressed here.

Also, Information hasn't the ability to trick or fool for it is just a concept not an entity.

>>..."naïve"...

Ok. I think you lost me on this one.
Who are the people posting at Synergy?
- A graduate student and instructor with a bachelors degree in Psychology who is currently completing a Masters Degree in Criminology.
- A graduate student with a bachelors degree in English/Philosophy, who has traveled to Europe and throughout the United States, and who is currently completing a masters in Archeology.
- A Swedish-born Author who has traveled in Europe, the Middle East and India.
- A War Veteran and long time political activist who has traveled throughout Europe and the U.S. and is a published author.
- An artist/musician/scientist and the well travelled former Radio host of a World Technology program.
- And other educated, well read, thoughtful authors.

The websters dictionary defines "naïve" as follows...

naïve a. innocent, simple.

I am having a hard time seeing innocent and simple people here.
Information however is incapable of being innocent and there is NOTHING more simple that being violent.

>>..."seriously biased"...

The websters dictionary defines "bias" as follows...

bias n. 1. diagonal line 2. prejudice -v. prejudice

The very nature of the ideas and concepts expressed by the people you are refering to attack prejudice in all forms. They display the hypocritical nature of saying for instance...
"I don't believe this is the right behavior, but I feel this is what we must do."

This brings us back to the full sentence that I am forced to analyze...

>>..."When the information those ideas are based on is wrong or deceptive or naïve or seriously biased, then the ideas become nonsense."...

nonsense n. absurd or meaningless words or acts.

This sentence may actually hold true if that were the case.

One other small point...

>>..."If you are in anyway a realist ( not that you can’t also be an idealist) and in touch with reality you would realize that we must first defend the lives of our citizens and loved ones and friends before any changes can be made in that dark part of the world."

If anyone hasn't noticed, this action taken by the U.S. is an offensive 'maneuver' and not a 'defensive' one. If we wish to bring the individuals, who are on the publically displayed list of alleged terrorists, to justice, we don't set a respectable example by side-stepping our own well-respected judicial system, as well as the Arabic council.

I wish for peace and love in a time lacking in thought, consistancy, communication and compassion.
I send love to ALL at Synergy and around the world and wish you the very best.
-mike
