Synergy Writing Contest ~ Poetry Entry

Untitled Verse

I am sitting in the corner of a coffee shop

I want my coffee

but the coffee is too hot

and I am wondering what you’re thinking

as you lean back in your chair

I am wishing I were the cup

from which you are drinking

as you are sitting there.

I am sitting in a dim coffee shop

And I can faintly hear the clock

the clock and it’s incessant ticking

reminding me as I am blinking

reminding me of the moment

into which I am sinking

and into the moment I am lost

sitting with you in this coffee shop

thinking of things

I

should

not
