The Finish Line
- Cary Hopkins Eyles
Running
a graduate student's plea
Enduring
With spurts and sprints
Along the way
The glory of the finish
Escapes me
The excitement
Over the next hill
Around the next corner
Past the next mile
Lies my ephemeral fate
The end will be an exhausted sigh
Instead of a magnificent boom
