The Execution of the Hotel Madison
............................................................- Boston, May 14, 1983
The implosions, then the great lurch,
The inward crumbling, a desire
To fill the empty rooms?
With walls and floors and halls
(oh, if they could talk!).
The roof, razed to the eyes,
Its copper skin turned verdigris,
Leans, its lanterns, like eyes now
Dead and white, a dinosaur demolished
To progress’ merciless march
Of glass and steel sameness, stilled
At last, by time.
1930 to 1983.
Rest In Pieces.
